How a Local Orthodontist Celebrates Halloween With Pumpkin Contests, Trunk or Treat, and Candy Donations
Yorba Linda, United States - October 14, 2026 / Potter Orthodontics /
Each October, Potter Orthodontics celebrates Halloween with patients, staff, and neighbors in Fullerton, Orange, and Yorba Linda, California. For the practice, October is all about Halloween, from a pumpkin contest in the office to community Trunk or Treat events and a candy buy back that benefits the troops.
A Pumpkin Contest That Puts Patients in Charge
Inside the office, every member of the Potter Orthodontics team decorates a pumpkin, and patients vote to pick the winner. The contest turns an October orthodontic visit into something patients look forward to, and it gives the team a chance to show some creativity between appointments.
Showing Up in the Community With Trunk or Treat
Outside the office, the Potter Orthodontics team attends numerous community Trunk or Treat events. The team sets up a decorated trunk and hands out toothbrushes and toothpaste to the kids, a reminder that Halloween fun and healthy smiles can go together. For families in Fullerton and Orange, it is a chance to meet their local orthodontist out in the neighborhood.
For patients wearing braces or clear aligners, Halloween comes with a few things to keep in mind. Sticky candies like caramel, taffy, and gummies can pull at brackets and wires, and hard candies can put pressure on hardware. Softer options such as plain chocolate tend to be a safer choice. Rinsing with water and brushing after eating candy helps protect both teeth and appliances.
Candy Buy Back: Trading Treats for a Good Cause
After Halloween, Potter Orthodontics holds a Halloween Candy Buy Back. Patients bring in their candy, the practice buys it from them, and the candy is donated to the troops. Kids get a reason to cut down on the candy kept at home, and the treats go to service members instead of sitting in a bowl.
Together, the pumpkin contest, the Trunk or Treat events, and the Candy Buy Back show how Potter Orthodontics spends October: connecting with patients and neighbors in ways that reach well beyond the treatment chair.
