“Dead Energy” follows geophysicist and adventurer Alex Cave. While sailing the waters of the Puget Sound on vacation, he noticed a brilliant flash of neon blue light on an oil tanker. Upon hearing a mayday call, he approached the oil tanker, only to discover that there was no explosion. When he looked around, there was no one on board the tanker, and its oil had mysteriously vanished without a trace. The only clue he discovered was a dollar-sized crystal, which, under a high-powered microscope, appeared to be alive.
“Dead Energy” is the first of nine books in James M. Corkill's The Alex Cave Series.

Author's Biography:
James M. Corkill is a Veteran and retired Federal Firefighter from Washington State, USA. He was an electronic technician and studied mechanical engineering in his spare time before eventually becoming a firefighter for 32 years and retiring.
He began writing in 1997 and was fortunate to meet Hugh B. Cave, a famous horror writer who became his mentor. In 2002, he rushed to self-publish a dozen copies of “Dead Energy” so his wife could see his book published before she was taken by cancer. When his soul mate was gone, he stopped writing and began drinking heavily.
In 2013, he met a stranger who read the first book, “Dead Energy” and encouraged him to start writing again. This chance meeting was just what he needed to hear at the right moment, and he quit drinking and began The Alex Cave Series. He was thankful for that fateful encounter.
