After a lifetime of learning from her dad, BAILOR founder Sonya Bailor welcomes him into the company's Coach Academy to help entrepreneurs grow.
HUNTSVILLE, Ala., Oct. 30, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Years ago, Bob Bailor called his daughter, Sonya, in the early morning hours with a challenge that would change her career trajectory. After years of helping companies grow and rebuilding her life following her son's battle with brain cancer, Sonya was considering a return to the stability of corporate leadership. But her dad believed she was meant for more, and he wasn't about to let her forget it.
"If you know you can grow companies and people, and you choose to do it for one company only, you're being selfish," Bob challenged her. He believed the impact she could make was worth the risks of building something of her own.
That conversation worked. BAILOR was formed.
Today, the roles have reversed. Bob and his wife, Linda, have joined the BAILOR Certified™ Coach Academy, where professionals first experience the BAILOR Method™ themselves before learning to apply it, integrate their expertise, and coach other entrepreneurs through growth.
"My dad has spent his life building businesses and people up. There's something pretty powerful about getting to hold the mirror up to him now and remind him who he is, what he's accomplished, and how much he still has to offer," said Sonya Bailor, BAILOR's founder. "Business growth demands personal growth. And sometimes, when you're so deep in the day-to-day, you can't see your own potential, much less what's holding you back. That's why having someone who can see what you can't and challenge you to grow beyond it can change everything."
A Lifetime of Building. A New Opportunity to Lead.
Bob's entrepreneurial journey began at age nine, with a lawn-care business and a trailer he built for his bicycle. He later built, scaled, and exited Bailor Trucking, a heavy-equipment transportation company. Much of Sonya's earliest business education happened riding beside him in his semitruck, learning firsthand what it took to build a business and lead people.
Now, that experience has come full circle. Academy participants experience the BAILOR Method™ as clients first, then study the methodology behind it and learn to combine its frameworks with their own experience, leadership strengths, and facilitation skills. Certified coaches apply that through BAILOR's nine-month Build to Scale™ program, helping business owners strengthen operations, pursue growth, and develop as leaders.
"I've learned a lot over the years, but there's always something more to learn," said Bob Bailor. "What I like about this is that I can take what I've learned, combine it with something that's already been built, and hopefully help other business owners avoid some of the mistakes I've made. And getting to do that with my daughter makes it even more special."
Building a Network of Experienced Business Leaders
Affectionately called "Daddy & Momma Bailor" by fellow coaches-in-training, Bob and Linda are among six members of the Academy's second class, which began in August 2026 and is scheduled to graduate in January 2027. Joining them are Ray Allister, Shavavian Allister, Tami Kent, and Tammy Brannen, who bring diverse strengths in leadership, operations, people development, and finance.
The class follows five inaugural coaches who graduated on May 1, 2026: Melissa Chavez, Sonia Robinson, Rachel Brown, Jessica Barnes, and Ron Casto. Together, the classes mark the beginning of BAILOR's vision to build a nationwide network of coaches, extending its impact beyond North Alabama.
"I know I am meant for more. I know my daddy is, too," said Sonya Bailor. "And there are others who know they're meant for more, with years of experience, wisdom, and value to give. Those are my people. That's who we're building this Academy for."
What began with a daddy's challenge to his daughter has become a company preparing others to multiply their impact. Now, the man who helped inspire that mission is becoming part of it.
Dad, it's your turn.
