NAMBÉ PUEBLO, N.M., Oct. 16, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Discovery 2 Scale (D2S), an advanced materials company founded by a longtime Los Alamos National Laboratory scientist, will establish its headquarters at Nambé Pueblo in Northern New Mexico. The facility is expected to create more than 80 high-paying jobs for scientists, technicians and other highly skilled workers. The company is building a platform that brings AI and robotics to material manufacturing. Applications range from developing lighter military armor to creating radiation-resistant materials for fusion energy.

With the support of $500,000 in Local Economic Development Act (LEDA) funding from Economic Development New Mexico, Discovery 2 Scale will lease and improve an approximately 6,500-square-foot laboratory and office space at Nambé Pueblo.

“Discovering a new material is not the hard part anymore — the hard part is proving it works and figuring out how to make it at scale,” said Dr. Saryu Fensin, founder and CEO of Discovery 2 Scale. “That is the gap we built D2S to close — we are putting AI, robotics, manufacturing and testing together under one roof because discovery alone doesn’t put a material on an aircraft, in a ship or into a manufacturing line.”

“New Mexico's national labs play a critical role in both national security and the development of advanced manufacturing technologies,” said Senator Martin Heinrich. “I’m proud to support Discovery 2 Scale and its effort to commercialize technology advancements right here in New Mexico.”

“New Mexico has always been home to cutting-edge innovation,” said Economic Development Secretary Rob Black. “Discovery 2 Scale is building on that legacy by commercializing technology developed here and creating new private-sector opportunities for New Mexicans.”

Establishing the company’s headquarters and laboratory in New Mexico will bring more federally funded work into the state’s private sector while expanding New Mexico’s advanced manufacturing capabilities.

“We are excited to continue connecting the tribal community with the State of New Mexico, national laboratories and technology companies, as we work to build a more diversified, resilient and sustainable economy for future generations,” said President, Nambé Pueblo Development Corporation, Randy Vigil. “By creating pathways for collaboration, investment, and technical workforce development, we can help ensure that tribal communities participate in and benefit from New Mexico’s innovation economy.”

“Discovery 2 Scale’s continued growth adds exciting momentum to New Mexico’s advanced manufacturing economy,” said Chad Matheson, president and CEO of Albuquerque Regional Economic Alliance (AREA). “The company is creating a bridge between locally developed innovation and commercial production, ensuring that more of the resulting expertise, investment and opportunity remain in our state. It has been a pleasure working with the Discovery 2 Scale team, and AREA looks forward to supporting their continued success.”

The State’s support of Discovery 2 Scale’s facility will lay the groundwork for continued advanced manufacturing growth in New Mexico, creating new career opportunities for New Mexicans.
